Algbra

Algbra is a UK values-based, sustainability-focused fintech operated by Algbra FS UK Limited (company number 12629086), an electronic money institution authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority under the Electronic Money Regulations 2011 (FRN 952360); its parent, Algbra Group Limited, is a certified B Corporation. Rather than a licensed clearing bank or building society, Algbra is a challenger provider of ethical multi-currency accounts, cards, savings and Banking-as-a-Service infrastructure. Through the Algbra Labs developer platform it exposes two API surfaces - a first-party Partner Banking (BaaS) API for onboarding, accounts, cards, payments and transactions, and a UK Open Banking dedicated interface conformant to the Open Banking Implementation Entity (OBIE) Read/Write Standard v3.1.8 covering Account & Transaction Information (AIS), Payment Initiation (PIS) and Confirmation of Funds (CBPII), delivered via the Tell Money (Tell Connect) platform. As a non-CMA9 ASPSP it meets PSD2 access-to-account obligations, securing the interface with FAPI-grade OAuth2/OIDC, mutual-TLS using OBIE OBWAC/OBSEAL eIDAS certificates, PS256 request-object signing, Dynamic Client Registration (DCR v3.2) and PSD2 strong customer authentication.

Algbra publishes 5 APIs on the APIs.io network, including Account Access API, Accounts API, Balances API, and 2 more. Tagged areas include Financial-Services, Banking, Open Banking, PSD2, and OBIE.

The Algbra catalog on APIs.io includes 1 event-driven AsyncAPI specification.

Algbra’s developer surface includes authentication, sandbox, getting-started guide, documentation, signup flow, engineering blog, pricing, and 21 more developer resources.

Kin Score

Kin Score Kin Score How this is scored →
scored 2026-09-08 · rubric v0.20.0
Regulatory Posture applies to this provider. Its tags matched the Banking & Open Finance regime, so Regulatory Posture carries 15 points of the composite. If this regime is wrong for your business, say so on your provider repo — the applicability map is public and we will correct it.
Create-or-Update Ergonomics applies to this provider. This API accepts writes, so it carries 10 points of the composite. It is scored from the published contracts themselves: whether a caller can create-or-update in one call, whether the write accepts a key the caller already holds, and whether the response says which branch ran. Without that, every write needs a search-and-branch in front of it, and the first time that check is skipped a duplicate record is created. Scored against the observed mean rather than raw — a provider at the catalog average is unchanged by this facet, not penalised by it.
The six quality facets above are damped to 75 points between them, because the conditional facet above carries the other 25. That is why each facet's contribution is shown against a damped maximum: raising a quality facet moves the composite by 75% of its nominal weight, not 100%. The full arithmetic is at apis.io/rating/.
Improve this rating by publishing the missing artifacts — every area above can be raised, and the full rubric is at apis.io/rating/. Every facet and dimension name above is a link: it opens that measurement's own page — what it means, the exact checks that feed it, how the whole catalog distributes on it, and the providers at the top of it. This rating is computed from github.com/api-evangelist/algbra: open an issue to ask a question, or submit a pull request to add artifacts.
