Alan
Alan is a Paris-based digital health insurance and wellness company founded in 2016 by Jean-Charles Samuelian-Werve and Charles Gorintin. It was the first independent health insurance provider licensed in France in over fifty years and offers an integrated product combining complementary health insurance ("mutuelle"), prevention, and care delivery through a single mobile and web experience. Alan's product surface includes group and individual health plans (Alan Santé), retirement plans (Alan Dolce Vita), public-sector and self-employed offerings, an HR/benefits admin dashboard for employers, an in-house telehealth and chat-care service (Clinique Alan) staffed by salaried clinicians, a gamified prevention and step-tracking program (Alan Play / Alan Mind), and vision/optical benefits with zero out-of-pocket pricing. The company reports over one million members and roughly 33,000 client businesses, operates in France, Belgium, and Spain, and reached a reported €5B valuation in its 2026 Series F round. Engineering and product practice is documented publicly on the Alan Product and Technical Blog at medium.com/alan, and a small portfolio of internal-tools and design assets (most notably react-native-fast-shadow and the Alan Sans typeface) is open-sourced on github.com/alan-eu. Alan does not publish a public-facing developer API, OpenAPI specification, or SDK; all member and employer interactions happen through Alan's first-party apps and the HR/benefits dashboard.
