StorSimple

StorSimple was a Santa Clara, California hybrid cloud storage company founded in 2009 by Ursheet Parikh and Guru Pangal. Its appliances combined primary storage, tiered cloud archiving, deduplication, compression, and encryption behind iSCSI/SMB interfaces, backed by $31.5M from Index Ventures, Redpoint Ventures, Ignition Partners, and Mayfield Fund. Microsoft acquired StorSimple in November 2012 and folded it into Azure as Azure StorSimple (8000 series physical and virtual arrays, plus the StorSimple Data Manager). The product is managed through Azure Resource Manager under the Microsoft.StorSimple resource provider and its REST API. Azure StorSimple reached end-of-life in December 2022 and is out of support; Microsoft directs customers to Azure File Sync and Azure Files.

Create-or-Update Ergonomics could not be measured. We hold no machine-readable contract for this provider to read, so there is nothing to measure a write surface against. Excluded rather than scored zero: never-measured and measured-empty are different facts. Publishing an OpenAPI is what makes this facet — and several others — scorable at all.
Improve this rating by publishing the missing artifacts — every area above can be raised, and the full rubric is at apis.io/rating/. Every facet and dimension name above is a link: it opens that measurement's own page — what it means, the exact checks that feed it, how the whole catalog distributes on it, and the providers at the top of it. This rating is computed from github.com/api-evangelist/storsimple: open an issue to ask a question, or submit a pull request to add artifacts.
