Queensland University of Technology (QUT) is a public research university in Brisbane, Australia, serving around 50,000 students with an applied emphasis in teaching and research. It is not an API producer and it publishes no developer portal, no API keys and no OpenAPI of its own — but it is one of the few institutions in this cohort whose machine-readable surfaces are genuinely its own engineering rather than a vendor's contract running under its name. Three surfaces were verified live on QUT-owned infrastructure inside APNIC allocation QUT-AU (AS7575), with no CNAME to a managed platform: the QUT ePrints OAI-PMH 2.0 repository interface at eprints.qut.edu.au, fully public and advertising oai_dc, oai_bibl, oai_openaire and uketd_dc; a self-hosted Shibboleth SAML 2.0 identity provider at idp.qut.edu.au registered in the Australian Access Federation and asserting the qut.edu.au scope; and a Keycloak OpenID Connect authorization server at esoe.qut.edu.au publishing a complete discovery document, JWKS, RFC 8414 metadata, dynamic client registration, PAR, CIBA and certificate-bound tokens, brokering interactive login to Microsoft Entra ID. QUT eResearch additionally publishes a public agent plugin marketplace carrying an MCP server definition, which is rare for a university — though the documentation host it targets, docs.eres.qut.edu.au, resolves publicly to an RFC 1918 private address and is unreachable from outside QUT. Everything else is bought: library discovery is an Ex Libris Primo VE tenancy, the LMS is Instructure Canvas, research data is contributed to ARDC's national registry, and identity is registered in DataCite, Crossref and ROR. Those relationships are recorded here; their contracts are not, because they are not QUT's. There is no open data portal, no course or timetable API, and no public route to a credential for the one authorization server QUT does run.
Queensland University of Technology publishes 3 APIs on the APIs.io network: QUT ePrints OAI-PMH 2.0, QUT ESOE OpenID Connect Provider, and QUT ePrints REST Interface. Tagged areas include University, Higher Education, Education, Australia, and Research.
The Queensland University of Technology catalog on APIs.io includes 1 JSON-LD context and 1 Spectral governance ruleset.
Queensland University of Technology’s developer surface includes authentication, documentation, GitHub presence, and 20 more developer resources.
Regulatory Posture applies to this provider. Its tags matched the
Education & Research regime, so
Regulatory Posture carries 15 points of the composite.
If this regime is wrong for your business, say so on your
provider repo — the
applicability map is public and we will correct it.
Create-or-Update Ergonomics applies to this provider. This API accepts writes, so it
carries 10 points of the composite. It is scored from the published contracts
themselves: whether a caller can create-or-update in one call, whether the write accepts a key the caller already
holds, and whether the response says which branch ran. Without that, every write needs a search-and-branch in
front of it, and the first time that check is skipped a duplicate record is created.
Scored against the observed mean rather than raw — a provider at the catalog average is unchanged by this facet,
not penalised by it.
The six quality facets above are damped to 75 points between them,
because the conditional facet above carries the other
25. That is why each facet's contribution is shown against a damped
maximum: raising a quality facet moves the composite by 75% of its nominal
weight, not 100%. The full arithmetic is at apis.io/rating/.
Improve this rating by publishing the missing artifacts — every area above can be raised, and the full rubric is at apis.io/rating/. Every facet and dimension name above is a link: it opens that measurement's own page — what it means, the exact checks that feed it, how the whole catalog distributes on it, and the providers at the top of it. This rating is computed from github.com/api-evangelist/qut: open an issue to ask a question, or submit a pull request to add artifacts.

x-coverage:
state: covered
reason: covered
detail: 'Three institution-operated machine surfaces were confirmed live and confirmed QUT-owned by IP and certificate rather
than by hostname: eprints.qut.edu.au (131.181.196.14), idp.qut.edu.au (131.181.196.172) and esoe.qut.edu.au (131.181.118.129),
all inside APNIC allocation QUT-AU / ORG-QUOT1-AP, origin AS7575 "Queensland University of Technology", none with a CNAME
to a managed platform, each behind a DigiCert OV certificate issued to O=QUEENSLAND UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY. That check
is the one that changed the answer for Monash and Melbourne, whose institution-branded IdPs turned out to be AAF Rapid
tenancies on Amazon address space; QUT passes it. Two of the three publish complete machine-readable contracts of their
own — an OAI-PMH 2.0 Identify response and a full OpenID Connect / RFC 8414 discovery document — so unlike most of this
cohort, the OpenAPIs in this repository are derived from documents QUT actually serves, not invented around a link. QUT
publishes no OpenAPI, no developer portal, no API keys and no self-service registration. The authorization server is standards-complete
and there is no public path to a credential for it; the EPrints REST index is open while every record behind it returns
401. Both are recorded as observed rather than smoothed over. Five relationships are real institutional facts on platforms
QUT does not run and their vendor contracts are deliberately not saved: Ex Libris Primo VE, Instructure Canvas, ARDC Research
Data Australia (926 registry objects under the QUT group), DataCite (ARDCX.QUT1, 535 DOIs, plus RAiD client UUAG.IXKMSM)
and Crossref (member 3230). The AAF federation membership and the ROR registration are recorded for the same reason and
must never be deleted as shared hosts. Two negative findings worth carrying. First, docs.eres.qut.edu.au — the target
of the MCP server QUT eResearch publishes in its public agent plugin marketplace — resolves on every public resolver to
172.30.92.51, an RFC 1918 private address, so the published plugin cannot reach its source from outside QUT. Second, the
principal web estate at www.qut.edu.au sits behind a Cloudflare managed challenge (cf-mitigated: challenge) that returns
403 to every non-browser client including a request for robots.txt, which makes QUT''s own crawl directives unreadable
to the crawlers they address. That is live-but-unreadable — a limit on our probe, not a gap in QUT. One CNAME tenancy
was found that the pre-computed DNS pass had reported as none: canvas.qut.edu.au is on QUT''s own registrable domain but
CNAMEs to qut-prod-vanity.instructure.com and terminates on Amazon CloudFront (13.33.67.61, 13.33.67.118). A hostname-only
verdict credits that surface to QUT; it is Instructure''s. No open data portal exists (data.qut.edu.au NXDOMAIN), no developer
portal exists (developer.qut.edu.au NXDOMAIN), and no course or timetable API was found (timetable.qut.edu.au NXDOMAIN).
api.qut.edu.au does resolve into QUT''s own address space and answers with a bare text/plain 404 on every path probed,
including /openapi.json, /swagger.json, /docs, /v1, /api, /health and /graphql — an API gateway with no publicly routed
surface.'
