Hess Corporation
Hess Corporation was an independent global energy company engaged in the exploration, development, production, transportation, purchase, and sale of crude oil, natural gas liquids, and natural gas. Its core operations centered on onshore unconventional production in the Bakken Shale of North Dakota and a major offshore position in the Stabroek Block in Guyana, with additional interests in the Gulf of Mexico, Canada, and Southeast Asia. Chevron Corporation completed its $53 billion all-stock acquisition of Hess on July 18, 2025, after a regulatory and arbitration delay that included a Federal Trade Commission consent order barring former CEO John B. Hess from serving on Chevron's board and a parallel ExxonMobil/CNOOC arbitration over Guyana right-of-first-refusal claims. Hess is now a wholly-owned subsidiary of Chevron, and the ONE GUYANA FPSO at Stabroek has come online to produce approximately 250,000 barrels of oil per day. Hess Corporation has never offered public developer APIs; its technology integrations were handled through enterprise partner systems and joint-venture operator portals.
