Parasma

Parasma is a San Francisco based biological compute startup building algorithms and hardware that train living human brain cells (cortical neurons on a chip) to perform computation for AI workloads. Founded in 2026 by Sean Cole and backed by Y Combinator (Summer 2026 batch), the company grew out of research that taught a clump of lab-grown human neurons to play Doom, coverage of which appeared in Nature, The Economist, Scientific American, The Guardian and elsewhere. Parasma currently operates as an early-stage research company with a marketing and news website; it does not yet publish a public API, SDK, developer portal, or other machine-readable developer surface. This profile is tracked in the API Evangelist network as a company lead so any future developer platform can be captured when it ships.

Parasma is profiled on the APIs.io network. Tagged areas include Company, Biological Compute, Neurotechnology, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine-Learning.

Parasma’s developer surface includes engineering blog, YouTube channel, and 7 more developer resources.

Create-or-Update Ergonomics could not be measured. We hold no machine-readable contract for this provider to read, so there is nothing to measure a write surface against. Excluded rather than scored zero: never-measured and measured-empty are different facts. Publishing an OpenAPI is what makes this facet — and several others — scorable at all.
Improve this rating by publishing the missing artifacts — every area above can be raised, and the full rubric is at apis.io/rating/. Every facet and dimension name above is a link: it opens that measurement's own page — what it means, the exact checks that feed it, how the whole catalog distributes on it, and the providers at the top of it. This rating is computed from github.com/api-evangelist/parasma: open an issue to ask a question, or submit a pull request to add artifacts.
