6 River Systems
6 River Systems is a warehouse fulfillment robotics company founded in 2015 in Waltham, Massachusetts by former Kiva Systems leaders Rylan Hamilton, Jerome Dubois, and CTO Chris Cacioppo. Its flagship product is "Chuck," a collaborative autonomous mobile robot (AMR) that works alongside human associates to guide and accelerate order picking, replenishment, and sortation in ecommerce and retail warehouses. The 6RS platform is a cloud-based execution layer that sits on top of a customer's WMS/ERP and exposes a RESTful JSON/HTTPS integration API for order, task, and operational-data exchange rather than a public self-serve developer portal. Shopify acquired 6 River Systems in 2019 for roughly $450M; Ocado Group acquired it from Shopify in May 2023, and the technology now sits within Ocado Intelligent Automation (Ocado Mobile Robot System / OMRS). Chuck has been deployed across 100-plus warehouses for 70-plus customers. Added to the API Evangelist network as a menlo-ventures portfolio lead.
