Four of the 20 highest scorers in our Investing & Venture Capital industry have nothing to do with investing. Bentley Systems is fifth at 71.2, Limble CMMS seventh at 70.8, MaintainX twelfth at 66.7 and SewerAI tied for eighteenth at 63.9. Their records describe infrastructure engineering, maintenance software and sewer inspection. That is our error, not theirs. Membership comes from tags, all four carry Asset Management, and a machine and a mutual fund are both assets.
How far the error reaches
The page states 1,312 providers and links 1,310, of which 1,308 are scored. 171 carry Asset Management, and 86 of those carry no other tag mentioning investing, trading, funds, capital, brokerage, market data or wealth. WisdomTree, Bitwise and Blue Owl Capital belong here, and their descriptions say so. Accela, which describes itself as govtech, and Amazon IoT SiteWise do not. Vantor, a satellite imagery record, is a second leak: its Private Equity tag sits beside Advent International. Dropping the 86 only moves the median from 14.9 to 14.4, but the top of the page moves, and the top is what people read.
The real market, by function
| Function | Provider | Kin Score | Agent Readiness | APIs |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Retail brokerage | Upstox | 74.7 | 53.3 | 23 |
| Brokerage API | Alpaca | 73.8 | 48.4 | 17 |
| Prime brokerage | Clear Street | 60.5 | 54.3 | 23 |
| Market data | Massive | 63.9 | 48.0 | 70 |
| Market data | Twelve Data | 67.4 | 52.3 | 15 |
| Crypto market data | 0xArchive | 74.0 | 69.3 | 55 |
| Crypto exchange | Gemini Trust Company | 67.9 | 47.8 | 20 |
| Investment research | Morningstar | 49.0 | 48.8 | 20 |
| Private markets | Caplight | 41.4 | 48.0 | 17 |
Three patterns
Agent scores favor narrow data and trading services. 0xArchive leads the cohort at 69.3, and Cymetica is second at 61.9. Caplight scores 41.4 on the Kin Score and 48.0 for agents. These services are built to be called by software.
The published contract is the dividing line. 297 scored providers have an API count on a published basis, with a median Kin Score of 43.8 and a median agent score of 29.3. The other 1,011 have a count we derived by splitting what they publish, with medians of 11.8 and 0.0. Overall, 782 of 1,308 scored providers are human-only. That is what the record shows, not proof a firm has no API.
Venture and wealth barely register in the top ranks. Of the 24 highest scorers, Wealth Reader, GitDealFlow and Altruist are the ones centered on wealth or deal flow. The leaders are overwhelmingly trading and market data.
What else is ours
The page’s cohort brief describes 1,127 providers “of 1223 in the catalog,” with 7 exemplars. Its own list shows 1,312 providers and 13 exemplar pills. Those should agree.
Where to start
For equities and options data, start with Massive and Twelve Data. For brokerage integration, read Upstox, Alpaca and Clear Street. Treat anything here with a maintenance, GovTech or facilities description as our tagging problem. The fix on our side is to require a second financial tag alongside Asset Management.
Takeaway
The investing market in this catalog is real, and it is led by trading and data. The page is not yet a fair picture of it, because one ambiguous tag imports factories and sewers. See the live list at Investing & Venture Capital.
