IEEE 2030.5 (Smart Energy Profile 2.0)
IEEE 2030.5 is the application-layer protocol for utilities to communicate with distributed energy resources — solar inverters, batteries, EV charging equipment and thermostats — over IP. It defines RESTful resources for demand response, pricing, metering and DER control, and California’s Rule 21 requires it for smart inverter communication, which is why it appears wherever grid-connected hardware meets an API.
Also known as Smart Energy Profile 2.0, SEP2, IEEE 2030.5-2018.
Providers that carry IEEE 2030.5 3
These providers' own APIs.json profiles carry IEEE 2030.5 as a tag — the provider's statement that the standard is part of what it does. APIs.io has not verified the implementation on this page; the de facto profiles on this site are where that measurement exists. Ordered by Kin Score.
Read from the API Evangelist standards directory, facts verified 2026-08-17. Provider links come from the catalog's own identity tags and are rebuilt nightly. If this page is wrong about a standard or a provider, say so.
