CARIN Blue Button
CARIN Blue Button is an HL7 FHIR implementation guide, developed by the CARIN Alliance, that standardizes how health plans expose a member’s claims and encounter data to consumer-directed apps. It defines FHIR profiles for Explanation of Benefit and related resources so a patient can direct their payer data to an app of their choice. It underpins the CMS Blue Button 2.0 API and the payer Patient Access APIs mandated by CMS.
Also known as CARIN BB, Blue Button 2.0, CARIN for Blue Button.
Providers that carry CARIN Blue Button 4
These providers' own APIs.json profiles carry CARIN Blue Button as a tag — the provider's statement that the standard is part of what it does. APIs.io has not verified the implementation on this page; the de facto profiles on this site are where that measurement exists. Ordered by Kin Score.
Read from the API Evangelist standards directory, facts verified 2026-08-17. Provider links come from the catalog's own identity tags and are rebuilt nightly. If this page is wrong about a standard or a provider, say so.
