EU Digital Omnibus

Regulation European Union · 2025

The Digital Omnibus is the European Commission's simplification package amending the AI Act, GDPR, ePrivacy, the Data Act, NIS2 and DORA at once. It split in practice: the AI half was adopted and entered into force on 27 July 2026, deferring the AI Act's high-risk obligations by sixteen months, while the data half remains in negotiation. It is catalogued here because it is the instrument that moves other instruments' dates, and a compliance calendar built without it is wrong.

Horizontal regime. It binds companies by what they do with data, software or customers, not by the sector they sit in. The industries below are where it creates specific, additional duties — not the limit of who has to comply.
