Bancontact · Rate Limits
Bancontact Rate Limits
Bancontact Pro documents THAT it rate-limits (HTTP 429 "Too Many Requests – Rate limit exceeded", declared on five Payment V3 operations with an empty Error Codes body) but publishes no numeric limit, window, scope or response header. limit_count is therefore an honest 0.
Bancontact Rate Limits is the machine-readable rate-limit profile for Bancontact on the APIs.io network, conforming to the API Commons Rate Limits specification.
The profile also includes 2 backoff/retry policies defined and response codes documented for throttled and serviceUnavailable.
Tagged areas include Banking, Belgium, Payments, and Rate Limiting.

Backoff Strategy
On 429 or 5xx, retry with exponential backoff (provider guidance); TRY_AGAIN_LATER (503) is explicitly retryable after a delay.
Inbound callback throttling
If the merchant's callback endpoint answers 429, Bancontact retries the callback for up to 24 hours.
Work with this as data
Every rate limit here is available over the APIs.io API and to AI agents over MCP.
