Yarn supports a rich set of dependency protocols beyond `npm:` semver — `git:`, `github:`, `file:`, `link:`, `portal:`, `patch:`, `exec:`, `workspace:`, and `http(s):`. Protocols are pluggable so custom resolvers can be added via plugins.
