Open Access Repository (Figshare tenancy)

The university's Open Access institutional repository is a Figshare portal running on the institution's own vanity domain openaccess.wgtn.ac.nz, which CNAMEs to figshare.com, with wellington.figshare.com as the platform address. The repository, its records, its DOIs and its OAI-PMH set are the institution's; the interface is Figshare's and is shared with every other Figshare customer. Harvestable via OAI-PMH 2.0 at Figshare's shared endpoint scoped to setSpec portal_771 (verified live 2026-08-30, returning VUW article identifiers). DOIs are minted under DataCite repository account FIGSHARE.VUW, active since 2021-06-10, 4,301 DOIs registered. The vanity host answers a non-browser request with HTTP 202 and x-amzn-waf-action "challenge" — a bot challenge, not an outage. FIGSHARE'S GENERIC v2 REST CONTRACT IS DELIBERATELY NOT SAVED IN THIS REPOSITORY; it belongs to Figshare, and it was previously attributed here in error. The VUW Library did write its own httpd proxy for this set — github.com/VUW-Library/figshare-oaipmh-proxy — which is genuine institutional engineering, but it is not publicly deployed at a discoverable address.
