DFN-AAI Identity Federation — KIT Shibboleth Identity Provider

The Scientific Computing Center operates KIT's Shibboleth SAML 2.0 Identity Provider and publishes its metadata as application/xml from KIT's own host. Verified 2026-09-01: entityID https://idp.scc.kit.edu/idp/shibboleth, an EntityDescriptor carrying both an IDPSSODescriptor and an AttributeAuthorityDescriptor with protocolSupportEnumeration urn:oasis:names:tc:SAML:2.0:protocol and four SingleSignOnService bindings (HTTP-Redirect, HTTP-POST, HTTP-POST-SimpleSign and SOAP/ECP); mdui:DisplayName "Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT)". The mdrpi:RegistrationInfo names registrationAuthority https://www.aai.dfn.de with registrationInstant 2010-03-15, and the entity carries the entity-category http://aai.dfn.de/category/bwidm-member, so KIT is a registered participant in the German national research-and-education federation DFN-AAI and in bwIDM. The self-served copy of the metadata is NOT XML-DSig signed — the signed copy is the federation's aggregate. A federation is shared by definition; the IdP entity behind it is KIT's, and the federation's own contract is not saved here.
