Updated 2026-05-02
SourceForge Vocabulary is a controlled vocabulary published by SourceForge on the APIs.io network, defining 13 terms.
Defined terms include Allura, Project, Tool, Mount Point, and Tracker.
A controlled vocabulary pins the words an API’s schemas, parameters and documentation use to one agreed definition each — the shared language a human or an agent needs to read the API the same way its authors do.
Terms
Allura
Apache Allura is the open source software forge platform that powers SourceForge. It provides modular project tools including trackers, wikis, forums, blogs, and code repositories accessible via a REST API.
Project
A SourceForge project is the primary organizational unit containing all tools, code repositories, and collaboration resources. Projects are identified by a unique shortname used in all API paths.
Tool
A SourceForge project tool is a functional module installed within a project such as a tracker, wiki, discussion forum, or blog. Each tool has a mount point (URL path segment) used in API calls.
Mount Point
The URL path segment identifying a specific tool instance within a project. For example, a tracker might be mounted at 'tickets' or 'bugs'. Used in API paths as /rest/p/{project}/{mount-point}.
Tracker
An issue tracking tool for managing bug reports, feature requests, and tasks. Supports paginated listing, search, create, and update operations via the API.
Ticket
An individual issue, bug report, or feature request within a project tracker. Identified by a sequential ticket_num and includes summary, description, status, assignee, and labels.
Wiki
A collaborative documentation tool where project members can create and edit pages. Pages are accessed by title and support Markdown formatting.
Neighborhood
A top-level grouping in Allura. SourceForge has two default neighborhoods: /p (Projects) and /u (Users). Neighborhood-level APIs support permission checks.
Webhook
A callback URL registered to receive notifications when project events occur. SourceForge supports repo-push webhooks for Git, SVN, and Mercurial repositories.
DOAP
Description of a Project. An RDF/XML format for describing open source software projects. SourceForge project information is accessible in DOAP format via the API.
OAuth 2.0
The primary authentication method for the SourceForge API. Bearer tokens are generated at sourceforge.net/auth/oauth/ and included in API requests as Authorization: Bearer {token}.
PKCE
Proof Key for Code Exchange. A security extension to OAuth2 that SourceForge supports for public client applications to prevent authorization code interception attacks.
Forum
A categorized discussion area within a project's discussion tool. Forums contain threads which contain posts.
