MagicBell Vocabulary is a controlled vocabulary published by MagicBell on the APIs.io network, defining 13 terms.

Defined terms include Broadcast, Notification, Channel, User, and Topic.

A controlled vocabulary pins the words an API’s schemas, parameters and documentation use to one agreed definition each — the shared language a human or an agent needs to read the API the same way its authors do.

Terms

Broadcast broadcast
A notification delivery job that sends a notification to one or more recipients across configured delivery channels. A broadcast transitions through statuses: enqueued, processing, sent, and failed.
Notification notification
An individual message delivered to a single user via one or more channels. Contains a title, optional content, action URL, category, and custom attributes.
Channel channel
A delivery medium through which notifications are sent. Supported channels include in-app inbox, email, mobile push (APNS, FCM, Expo), web push, Slack, and Microsoft Teams.
User user
A MagicBell-registered recipient of notifications. Users are identified by an external_id (your system's user ID), an email address, or both. Users can manage per-channel and per-category notification preferences.
Topic topic
A logical grouping or thread for notifications, enabling in-app inbox threading and per-topic mute controls. Topics allow users to follow or unfollow specific notification streams.
Integration integration
A configured third-party service connection that enables a delivery channel. Examples include APNS (Apple Push), FCM (Firebase Cloud Messaging), Mailgun, SendGrid, Twilio, Slack, and Stripe webhook integrations.
Token token
A device or service credential stored for a user to enable push delivery. Types include APNS tokens (iOS), FCM tokens (Android), Expo tokens, Slack tokens, Teams tokens, and web push tokens.
Event event
An observable delivery lifecycle record emitted by MagicBell. Events capture notification sent, delivered, opened, clicked, and failed states per channel, enabling full delivery observability.
JWT jwt
A JSON Web Token used for API authentication. MagicBell issues two JWT scopes: Project JWTs (full API access) and User JWTs (scoped to a single user's data). Tokens can be created and revoked via the /jwt endpoints.
Delivery Configuration deliveryconfig
Project-level or category-level rules that define which channels receive notifications and in what priority order, including fallback rules when a preferred channel fails.
Idempotency Key idempotency_key
A client-supplied header (Idempotency-Key) that ensures duplicate POST requests produce the same result as a single request. MagicBell deduplicates requests sharing the same key within a time window.
Category category
A string label on a notification or broadcast that groups notifications by type (e.g., "order-updates", "billing", "security-alerts"). Users can set per-category delivery preferences.
Custom Attributes custom_attributes
An arbitrary key-value map attached to notifications, broadcasts, or users for storing application-specific metadata that passes through to delivery payloads.
