MISMO

MISMO is the standards development organization for the US mortgage industry — a not-for-profit subsidiary of the Mortgage Bankers Association whose Reference Model defines the data of a loan from application through closing, servicing and the secondary market. Version 3.6 ships an XML schema, a logical data dictionary, and a YAML file set conforming to the OpenAPI Specification. It is genuinely load-bearing inside US real estate finance, and it sits behind a $3,500 annual membership and a license agreement, which is the whole story of how it shows up — or doesn’t — to a developer outside the industry.
