X ships TWO hosted MCP servers: an API server at https://api.x.com/mcp that calls X API v2 endpoints, and a documentation-search server at https://docs.x.com/mcp. Both are Streamable HTTP remote endpoints. The API server also has a first-party local stdio bridge (`xurl mcp`, launched via npx) that owns the OAuth app identity and injects a fresh bearer token, so the deployment mode for X as a provider is `both`.
