Telnyx Verify API · Rate Limits

Telnyx Verify Rate Limits

Telnyx applies platform-wide API rate limiting on api.telnyx.com and returns HTTP 429 when a caller exceeds its allowance; Telnyx does not publish a single fixed numeric per-endpoint limit for the Verify or Number Lookup endpoints. In practice, verification throughput is also shaped by anti-abuse controls - per-phone-number send limits, resend cooldowns, and code-expiry timeouts on the Verify profile - which exist to blunt SMS pumping, brute-force, and OTP fraud rather than to cap legitimate traffic. Number Lookup throughput is governed by the same platform request limiting plus your account standing.

Telnyx Verify Rate Limits is the machine-readable rate-limit profile for Telnyx Verify API on the APIs.io network, conforming to the API Commons Rate Limits specification.

It captures 4 rate-limit definitions, measuring requests, verifications, seconds, and lookups.

The profile also includes 3 backoff/retry policies defined and response codes documented for throttled.

Tagged areas include Number Verification, Phone Verification, OTP, 2FA, and Lookup.

Policies

Backoff Strategy
On HTTP 429 responses, implement exponential backoff with jitter before retrying.
Anti-Fraud Throttling
Verify applies per-number send caps, resend cooldowns, and code-expiry timeouts to reduce SMS pumping, brute-force, and OTP fraud.
Webhook Delivery
Prefer verification webhooks over tight polling of the retrieve/list endpoints to stay within request limits.
