Open Charge Map applies usage controls to ensure platform stability and fair access across the developer community. The API does not publish precise numeric rate limits but enforces restrictions to prevent abuse. API keys are required for regular use; anonymous requests are subject to stricter implicit limits. The primary documented restriction is a maximum results cap of 250 records per request for general POI queries. The Microsoft Power Platform connector documentation indicates a throttling limit of 100 API calls per connection per 60-second window. The project actively monitors for excessive request patterns and may throttle or block clients that appear to be crawlers or bots without proper identification. Developers are encouraged to include a client identifier string in requests.
