Openstates Plans Pricing

Open States provides free and tiered access to its legislative data API. Most users operate on the free Default tier. Higher quotas are available on request by contacting the Open States team. The project is volunteer-powered and maintained under the Plural Policy umbrella.

Openstates Plans Pricing is the machine-readable pricing-plan profile for Open States on the APIs.io network, conforming to the API Commons Plans specification.

It defines 4 plans, with named plans including Default, Bronze, Silver, Unlimited.

Default

Free tier available to all registered API key holders. Suitable for personal projects, research, and low-volume integrations.

Bronze

Elevated quota for active developers and civic-tech projects. Available on request by contacting contact@openstates.org.

Silver

High-volume tier for applications serving many users or performing bulk lookups. Available by arrangement with the Open States team.

Unlimited

Maximum quota tier for partners with very high throughput requirements. Requires direct agreement with Open States / Plural Policy.
