The Kling AI Open Platform (developer API) is billed on a prepaid resource-pack model that is separate from the consumer Kling app membership plans. New developer accounts receive a small amount of free credit (reported around one US dollar) to trial the API. Beyond that, callers purchase prepaid resource packs; unlike the consumer app, failed API tasks are reported not to deduct resources. Consumption scales with the work performed - video costs substantially more than image generation, professional mode costs more than standard mode, and native audio (on audio-capable models) roughly doubles the per-second rate.
