Kings College London Plans Pricing
King's College London is a non-commercial higher-education institution and does not sell API access to the public. Corrected 2026-08-19: the June 2026 profile described "library, repository, course and open-metadata" plans that mostly did not exist. What does exist is three-tier and internal. Open metadata — the Pure OAI-PMH endpoint — is free and unauthenticated to anyone. The e-Research AI Hub and CREATE Cloud are chargeback services for King's affiliates: the AI Hub gives new accounts free starter tokens and meters use against a project budget thereafter, and CREATE Cloud gives every King's researcher one free-tier project (4 vCPU / 8GB memory / 40GB disk, best-effort support, development only) with paid quota sold in 1 vCPU + 2GB increments against grant and departmental budgets. There is no public signup for either. The remaining surfaces are vendor tenancies whose commercial terms are King's contracts with Elsevier, Figshare, Ex Libris, OpenAthens and Cosector, not published prices.
Kings College London Plans Pricing is the machine-readable pricing-plan profile for King’s College London on the APIs.io network, conforming to the API Commons Plans specification.
It defines 3 plans, covering free and paid tiers, with named plans including Free / Open, Affiliation / Credentialed, Internal Chargeback.
Tagged areas include Education, Higher Education, University, and Plans.
Plans
Public open APIs (metadata, library, repository, course data) offered at no charge, generally for non-commercial use.
Institution-operated services gated behind King's SSO, VPN, client certificates or federation membership rather than payment — the AI Hub free token allocation, the CREATE Cloud free-tier project (4 vCPU, 8GB memory, 40GB disk, development use only, forum support), and the federated identity provider.
Metered research computing billed to grant and departmental budgets, not sold externally. AI Hub usage beyond the starter token allocation is charged against a project budget; CREATE Cloud quota is sold in 1 vCPU + 2GB memory increments, with SSD root disks charged per GB and RDS data storage charged per TB above 5TB. Published rates live on the e-Research grant costing pages; no per-call price list exists.
