Hku Plans Pricing
The University of Hong Kong is a non-commercial higher-education institution and sells no API product. Corrected 2026-08-19: an earlier version of this file described "public library, repository, course and open-metadata interfaces" offered free of charge. No such public interfaces were found. What exists is (a) institution-operated identity infrastructure — a Shibboleth SAML IdP and an AD FS OIDC issuer — whose metadata is free to read but whose use requires a federation or relying-party trust relationship established with HKU ITS, and (b) an Azure API Management gateway whose GenAI APIs are issued at no charge to HKU staff and students only, after institutional sign-in at developer.hku.hk. There is no plan a member of the public can buy or self-serve into.

Freely fetchable machine-readable documents on HKU hosts — Shibboleth IdP metadata (hkafidp.hku.hk), AD FS federation metadata, OpenID Connect discovery and JWKS (adfs.hku.hk). No key, no account, no charge. These are protocol metadata, not a consumable data API.
Everything callable: the HKU GenAI chat-completion, embedding and image-generation APIs behind the api.hku.hk gateway, keyed through developer.hku.hk after HKU sign-in, plus any relying-party integration with the identity providers. Gated by affiliation, not price.
