CRLs, or Certificate Revocation Lists, are time-stamped lists that identify digital certificates that have been invalidated before their expiration date. They include information about the reasons for revocation and the entities that issued the certificates. CRLs are used to prevent the usage of compromised digital certificates and signatures.
