API Coverage Across Southeast Asia

API Coverage Across Southeast Asia

The Southeast Asia region on APIs.io covers the ASEAN bloc — Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, the Philippines, and others. The catalog indexes 60 providers and 207 APIs from the region, and the shape of that coverage tells you exactly where SEA’s API economy is concentrated: payments and logistics, anchored by super-app companies.

Who’s serving the region

Payments dominate the top of the list. PayMongo, the Philippine payments platform, leads the region as an exemplar provider (composite 70.3) with 14 APIs. Indonesia’s DOKU follows, its 6 APIs built around Bank Indonesia’s SNAP open-banking standard — SNAP Access Token, Virtual Account, Direct Debit, and QRIS. Singapore’s HitPay rounds out the strong band with hosted payment requests, recurring billing, and refunds.

The rest of the payments field is deep: Xendit and 2C2P for regional payment infrastructure, Omise (now Opn) across Thailand and Singapore, Midtrans and Flip in Indonesia, GCash in the Philippines, Curlec (Razorpay) in Malaysia, Aspire and Beam Checkout for Singapore and Thailand, and Fazz for cross-border business banking. Crypto and stablecoin rails appear too, via Coins.ph and Indonesia’s rupiah-pegged IDRX. Local-market accounting and commerce show up as well, with Thailand’s FlowAccount and Indonesia’s Bukalapak both on the network.

Logistics and commerce are the other pillar. Ninja Van runs last-mile parcel delivery across six SEA markets, Komerce bundles Indonesian shipping and QRIS payments, and GoGet handles on-demand delivery in Malaysia. The super-apps loom large: Grab publishes 16 APIs spanning GrabFood, GrabExpress, GrabPay, and Login With Grab; GoTo Group (Gojek + Tokopedia) carries GoPay, GoSend, GoBiz, and Moka POS; and marketplaces Shopee (17 APIs) and Lazada (12 APIs) expose their open platforms to sellers.

One observation

The regional description names Grab, Gojek, and Sea as the anchors of SEA’s API economy — but the network’s highest-rated providers here are the focused payment specialists, not the super-apps. PayMongo, DOKU, and HitPay outscore Grab, Shopee, and Lazada on composite rating. The super-apps have the biggest surfaces and the most brand gravity, yet the cleanest, best-documented, most agent-ready APIs in the region come from the payment-first players building on standards like Bank Indonesia’s SNAP and QRIS. Reach and readiness are not the same thing.

Takeaway

Southeast Asia’s 60 providers and 207 APIs are a payments-and-logistics story with super-apps on top — and the quality signal points at the specialists. If you are integrating into ASEAN, start with the regulated payment platforms leading the score bands. Explore the full region at apis.io/regions/southeast-asia/.
