Climacell

Climacell (styled ClimaCell) was a Boston-based weather-intelligence startup that pioneered a "Weather of Things" approach — deriving hyperlocal precipitation and atmospheric conditions from wireless-signal attenuation, connected devices, and its own proprietary numerical weather model — and exposed it through a developer-facing REST weather API. Backed by Canaan Partners among others, the company rebranded to Tomorrow.io in 2020 and its legacy climacell.co domain now 301-redirects to www.tomorrow.io. The surviving product is the Tomorrow.io v4 Weather API, which supersedes the original ClimaCell v3 API and exposes 60+ hyperlocal data layers (core weather, air quality, pollen, fire, flood, lightning, maritime, aviation, road) with realtime, forecast, historical, map-tile, and webhook-alert access. This profile is the historical ClimaCell identity; the enriched, live provider record lives in the api-evangelist tomorrow-io repository.

Climacell is profiled on the APIs.io network. Tagged areas include Weather, Forecast, Climate, Weather Intelligence, and Air Quality.

Climacell’s developer surface includes developer portal, documentation, API reference, getting-started guide, signup flow, pricing, engineering blog, and 7 more developer resources.

Create-or-Update Ergonomics could not be measured. We hold no machine-readable contract for this provider to read, so there is nothing to measure a write surface against. Excluded rather than scored zero: never-measured and measured-empty are different facts. Publishing an OpenAPI is what makes this facet — and several others — scorable at all.
Improve this rating by publishing the missing artifacts — every area above can be raised, and the full rubric is at apis.io/rating/. Every facet and dimension name above is a link: it opens that measurement's own page — what it means, the exact checks that feed it, how the whole catalog distributes on it, and the providers at the top of it. This rating is computed from github.com/api-evangelist/climacell: open an issue to ask a question, or submit a pull request to add artifacts.
