The Department of Meteorology's data server, metdata.reading.ac.uk, which publishes observations from the University of Reading Atmospheric Observatory — one of the longest continuous climatological records in the UK. Live and public: the AWS weather report at www.met.reading.ac.uk/weatherdata/Reading_AWS_weather_report.html refreshes every 300 seconds, and a dozen CGI query services under /cgi-bin/ (climate_extract, onthisday_query, stats_climate_query, averages_sums, bhclimate_query, MMS, climate_plotter and others) each returned 200 and accepted POSTed parameters on 2026-09-01. Honest limitation: these are multi-step HTML form wizards over POST, not a documented API, and the newer "Public Data Extractor" at metdata.reading.ac.uk/ext/ still carries a banner reading "Site under construction. No data available yet" dated 03/07/2018. The /cgi-bin/ index itself returns 403 — the scripts are callable, the directory is not listable.
