Linkerd is a lightweight, security-first service mesh for Kubernetes. Built on Rust-based micro-proxy (linkerd2-proxy), Linkerd provides automatic mTLS, observability with golden metrics (success rate, latency, throughput), and traffic management without the operational complexity of Istio. CNCF graduated project.
